Art 131 | Alternative Approaches to Art and Design—Bits and Tangents

Synthesis

Materials: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Sound Edit, IMovie, digital photos, digital sound, digital video.

Technical Explorations:
–narration
–animation as painting
–movement and sequence
–working with drawing, painting and time
–pace
–palette

Project:
We will continue working with the idea of path in the final project of the quarter.
—Your piece should make the viewer acutely aware of time and space.
—Drawing and or painting must play an integral part in the final work.
Adding to your self-portrait/motion assignment, isolate a story, song or poem that is significant to one of the three time periods. Compose a piece of art that communicates and demonstrates, with sound and animation. Incorporate into project 4.

Timeline:

November 26th–Wednesday—Bring ideas to work with in lab, computer tutorial on Flash
December 1st–Monday—Present initial static sketches. In-class work session.
December 3–Wednesday—In-class work session, tutorial on sound/motion.
December 8th–Monday—Presentation of ideas in motion, incorporated with project 4.
December 10th–Wednesday—In-class work session.

Final Presentation
December 15th—8:30 am - 10:20 am
Post site—include work from quarter. Prepare presentation that discusses process and results of each project. Presentation should be between 5-7 minutes.
